Diamond Review FAQs

1. Who should apply for Diamond Review?
Suppliers- If you sell a product or service and want to provide PDH to structural engineers.
SEA’s- If you have webinars, lunch and learns, or Annual Meetings, you can provide PDH that is accepted across the country.
Individual SEs- If you are a consultant and want to teach your program, you can provide PDH.



2. Why should my programs become Diamond Reviewed?
As a provider, you can turn your conferences, lunch and learn's, and webinars into quality education that can be submitted for licensing in all 50 states.



3. What is the review timeline?
Each program is reviewed by a qualified structural engineer. It will take up to 3 weeks to be reviewed.

6. Can my course be renewed?
Yes! All Diamond Review registrations must be renewed annually. Fees are reduced by half. If program content changes by more than 10%, it must be reviewed again. Each program must be updated and re-reviewed every five years.



7. Are there topics that are NOT approved?
The following program areas will not qualify for Diamond Review approval, as they are not accepted as technical content in all 50 states:
• risk management
• project management related to profitability, marketing and public relations
• insurance
• laws related to arbitration, mediation, liens (unless they are related to safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of the public)
• real estate or real estate development
• expanding a design professional’s practice
• basic Auto CAD
• personal development
• general office management
• accounting/financial planning
• succession planning
• design/build (unless it includes information on the laws related to design build and its limitations in New York State.



8. What do I need to submit my application?
Applicants submit an online application to NCSEA for determination if a specific course is relevant to structural engineering. As part of this application, you will need to provide the following information:
a. A detailed outline and learning objectives of the program content;
b. The presentation materials, including handouts, speaker notes, attendee notes, workbooks, and presentation slides;
c. The qualifications of the individual(s) preparing and presenting the course; 
d. The number of hours of continuing education credit to be awarded upon completion of the course.



9. My application was not approved. What do I do?
Applicants may request a second review if a course is determined not to be relevant to Diamond Review Approved.



10. My program was approved! What are my next steps?
Great! You will receive confirmation of approval that will include the Diamond Review logo and your program’s specific Diamond Review number. Both should be included on the certificate given to your attendees.



11. Do I need to keep records?
A vendor provider or MO must keep backup documentation of sponsored educational activities for 6 years after the course is presented. The documentation should include brochures, outlines, attendee handouts, visual aids, name and resume of the speaker, attendee roster, date and locations of the program and number of contact hours. Course quality will be monitored through audit/review reports submitted to NCSEA on a yearly basis. The primary object of a review is to guarantee the quality of all approved courses.
